Frame-dragging effects in obliquely rotating magnetars

چکیده

Magnetars are highly magnetized neutron stars. For a slowly rotating magnetar, the strong magnetic field deforms star, making it axisymmetric with respect to axis (the body symmetry axis). In magnetars, rotation is tilted axis, and we have an oblique rotator. General relativistic treatment of obliquely magnetar gives rise frame-dragging velocities both in azimuthal polar direction. Solving Einstein equation up first-order perturbation second-order field, calculate geodesic particle near star's surface. The velocity makes orbit non-planar, moves along direction for fixed radial distance. extent deviation from planar depends on strength misalignment angle. We find that continuous gravitational wave emitted such star non zero, small angle, amplitude more velocity. contrast, large dominates. energy loss misaligned rotator significantly therefore, can affect magnetosphere around magnetar.

Frame Dragging Anomalies for Rotating Bodies

Examples of axially symmetric solutions to Einstein's field equations are given that exhibit anomalous " negative frame dragging " in the sense that zero angular momentum test particles acquire angular velocities in the opposite direction of rotation from the source of the metric.

LETTER Frame Dragging Anomalies for Rotating Bodies

The prototype example of frame dragging arises in the Kerr metric. A test particle with zero angular momentum released from a nonrotating frame, far from the source of the Kerr metric, accumulates nonzero angular velocity in the same angular direction as the source of the metric, as the test particle plunges toward the origin (in Boyer-Lindquist coordinates). This “dragging of inertial frames,”...

Relativistic precession around rotating neutron stars: Effects due to frame-dragging and stellar oblateness

General relativity predicts that a rotating body produces a frame-dragging (or LenseThirring) effect: the orbital plane of a test particle in a non-equatorial orbit precesses about the body’s symmetry axis. In this paper we compute the precession frequencies of circular orbits around rapidly rotating neutron stars for a variety of masses and equations of state. The precession frequencies comput...

Frame dragging and super – energy

We show that the vorticity appearing in stationary vacuum spacetimes is always related to the existence of a flow of super–energy on the plane orthogonal to the vorticity vector. This result, toghether with the previously established link between vorticity and super–energy in radiative (Bondi–Sachs) spacetimes strength further the case for this latter quantity as the cause of frame dragging.

Frame Dragging in Black Hole-pulsar Binaries

The discovery of frame-dragging effects in binary pulsar timing experiments requires a compact companion with sufficiently large spin. A pulsar orbiting a fast rotating black hole could provide an appropriate test system. In this paper we address questions concerning the identification of a black hole companion in such a system, the measurability of the frame dragging caused by the rotation of ...
